Custom Decorative Film for Towson University

Our focus for this job was a large, window-paneled partition and doorway, cordoning off a staff-only area. After careful measurement and cleaning of the surface area, we used custom-made dusted crystal decorative stripes with lettering, adhering them in a horizontal pattern that varied in width apart from one another, offering an awareness of activities beyond the window. The appearance of this translucent

film gives a soft, frosted appearance of acid-etched glass without the permanent nature of actual etched glass and cost of replacing the windows and doors if they became broken, scratched, or you grow tired of the look.

With brightly lit workstations behind, our goal was to provide ample privacy while maintaining a flow to the area, not fully closing off the space and darkening the area but still providing a feeling of accessibility. The privacy level of the specific film enabled this, successfully leaving visibility with a high level of light transmission. The design was unobtrusive yet effective and gave off a subtly polished look to this particular part of the library. An added bonus? The many hands that are sure to touch this glass in a highly trafficked library won’t leave a lasting impression: the decorative film is easy to maintain, where you simply wipe away dirt and smudges, leaving a refined look that’ll last.

Fortunately, this project was done meticulously while also being done quickly. (No Starbucks needed for us.) Staff was able to maintain their workflow with minimal disruption from the installation process. As in each Film Room project, we sought a solution that met the needs of our clients while presenting the best options based on budget, timeline, and specifications.
